The Top Six Questions to Ask an Interior Designer – #1

May 9th, 2012

You just bought a house and are eager to move in.  Congratulations!  There is much work ahead, but with some planning up front many headaches can be prevented.  It can mean the difference between living in bedlam for months to come or in a functional and pleasingly pull-together home from the start.  The secret lies in planning ahead.  The time you take up front to address some issues will make your move a smooth transition.

No need to panic.  This is where the right interior designer can be invaluable.  And it will be fun with the guidance of a professional.   But how do you choose the right interior designer?

  • Start with their portfolio of past work.  Do you like what you see?  Ask the designer if they were the ones who designed the built-ins.

Palm Springs Art Museum

April 24th, 2012

One of my favorite things to do when traveling is to visit the local art museums.  While visiting friends at their desert home that I had decorated in California, we attended a cocktail party at the Palm Springs Art Museum featuring an artist and his latest work of art – a giant red pencil.  Alright, I know, I know.  Perhaps not everyone’s favorite type of art but I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the museum.

One of my favorite artists on exhibit at the museum is Karen LaMonte.  Her Pianist’s Dress Impression is cast glass.  http://www.karenlamonte.com/collections.html
